In professional sports, a replacement player is an athlete who is not a member of the league's players association and plays during a labor dispute such as a strike or lockout.


(Replacement player) The performance you would expect from any scrub called up from AAA. Replacement level players generally perform well below average as compared to average Major League players.


(Replacement Player) This is the player that is below average, one who is abundant in the minors, and is used as a basis for more complex analysis. This is set as a percentage (usually around 80%) of the average player. The stat used is runs per out, as these are the 2 most important stats.
